January '25 (0 hours)
Happy 2025 everyone!!! After a much needed winter break, I've said it before and I'll say it again; this semester definitely came back full force! I literally feel like all I did was blink and January was over. The topics so far have been very interesting to me. We started with reproduction and now barreling through endocrine as we speak. I will say the new classes are teaching me that I will always have to adjust. I felt like I had a good study flow going last semester, but with the journal clubs and so many presentations and papers to read, I'm definitely ~adjusting~. Despite the changes and the challenges, I'm excited to finally have a reason to master this skill. Reading, understanding, and presenting research papers is something that I like when I do it, but it takes a ton of motivation. I hope that by the end of this semester, it'll finally feel like second nature.
In other news, it snowed in New Orleans. I don't mean baby flurries, I mean a freaking snow storm. I was actually so surprised. The news kept saying it was coming, but I never believe it. I was expecting MAYBE a light dusting haha. I'm from Kansas City, Mo and have experienced snow and weeks of being trapped in the house too many times.... why do you think I moved to Louisiana? 😅 We had zoom school through the storm which was a new experience to me. Thank goodness zoom didn't exist in high school LOL. I'm really proud of myself and my classmates for making it through such a cold week with an exam and an hour long zoom presentation embedded. I'm very excited to learn about stress with Dr. Lindsey and neurological disorders with Dr. Mostany! Here's to a rockin' semester.
